The Dolphin Sub Aqua Club was formed twenty six years ago and trains at the Queens University Belfast Physical Education Centre. Diving all over Northern Ireland (Strangford Lough, Belfast Lough, Bangor, Larne, Rathlin Island), the west coast of Ireland and an annual trip to an even more exotic location. There is a hardy core of divers who regularly go out on Sundays but the main events are field trips. These are usually Bank Holiday weekends, Divers, partners, children and even dogs are brought along. There is always a successful mix between diving and the social element and it is this mix that is the core of the Club. Field trips are to places within Ireland (Achill, Belmullet,Glencolumbkille) and those places further away (Bonaire, Cuba).
Each year the Club tries to hold at least one foreign diving trip. In 2008 we are off to the Red Sea, and after that may be Cuba!
The social element is further encouraged by our weekly meeting at the
Malone Lodge Hotel from 10:00 PM. During these sessions
we discuss our future trips, past trips and generally set the world to
rights.
Here we have some of our members testing out one of our boats. This
particular boat was purchased to replace our second boat which had suffered
a few reliability problems.
We now have two very reliable boats, a 4 x 4 to
tow them, and are ready for the seasons diving.
